After years of use our furniture begins to wear down, fabric ripping, colors fading, and wood cracking. Before you throw those old sofas, chairs, and desks away, stop and see if there is a way to renew them and give them a second lease on life. Let’s get restoring, Deco & Bloom style, with Easy Ways to Spruce up Old Furniture.

Paint – Painting or staining an old piece of furniture can be a quick and easy way to breath new life into an older piece, and it gives you a lot of different options for the restoration. Try restoring it’s original coloration for a gorgeous look, or try giving it an exciting new hue for an updated feel. If the issue is stained or faded fabrics, these too can be repainted with a little fabric paint.

Reupholster – When it comes to old chairs, sofas, and love seats, one of the biggest spots where wear and tear will effect them over the years is the fabric or leather. When these areas get worn down, it can be tempting to toss them, but before you do give reupholstering them a try. Use new fabrics, with new designs to completely update the piece, and if the furniture has wooden accents, try repainting or staining them to make it really look like a brand new piece.

Re-Imagine – When a piece is broken or worn beyond it’s intended purpose it can always be recycled into a whole new item. Try using it for a completely different function, for example, a wide dresser can make a beautiful dining room storage space and buffet server. Try to think outside the box for this process and you can create some truly unique pieces with that one of a kind, homemade feel. Combining this tip with the first two will give you some truly amazing DIY projects that will add a great feeling to your home. What is your favorite way to spruce up old furniture?
